On Monday, May 15, 2017, the CaNRisk CREATE group and other PhD candidates at the Civil Engineering Department in McMaster University attended a professional development workshop entitled “AWAKENING AUTHENTICITY to EMPOWER your PRESENCE” as part of a series of short courses to prepare students for successful employment through soft skill development.

Speaker’s short bio:
Kevin McCormick is an Artistic Director, Stage Director, and Educator. He has a lengthy career in education which includes work at various Canadian Universities “University of Toronto, Ryerson University, University of New Brunswick, Seneca College, York University”.

As a producer, director and artistic director he has worked on everything from large scale musicals, dramatic plays to conservatory projects.

He is currently the Artistic Director of Equity Showcase Theatre, one of Canada’s oldest not for profit charitable arts organizations.

He has been a professor at the University of Toronto since 2009 where he founded and created as the Artistic Director a unique program called, Creative Classes / Empowerment through the Arts.
His work at U of T also involves working with many of the PHD students from various divisions of the University including the highly regarded, Vanier Connaught Scholars.
