Ahmed graduated with a B.Eng. degree in 2011 with a focus on Civil Engineering. He has earned a M.A.Sc. degree in 2013 in the field of repair of fire-damaged reinforced concrete components. At the same time, he worked as a part-time designer and site engineer for reinforced concrete structures. He is currently a final-year PhD student in the department of Civil Engineering at McMaster university within the NSERC CaNRisk-CREATE program. His PhD research focus is in the area of seismic performance of safety related non-structural components in nuclear power plants, with an emphasis on auxiliary backup power systems.
