Dr. Lydell Wiebe applies his expertise in advanced numerical modeling and large-scale dynamic testing to develop design strategies for maintaining operational continuity after major earthquakes.

Prior to joining McMaster University as an Assistant Professor in eth Department of Civil Engineering, Dr. Wiebe worked to enable engineers to apply his research to the rebuilding of Christchurch following the earthquakes of 2010-2011, collaborating with a major structural engineering consultancy to develop a design guideline that was commissioned by Steel Construction New Zealand.
