May had both her B.A.Sc. and M.A.Sc. in Construction Engineering at the American University in Cairo. After finishing her M.A.Sc., she joined McMaster University’s PhD program. Based on her academic excellence, she was the only PhD student across the Faculty of Engineering, and among the only five University-wide awardees of the 2017 Ontario Trillium Scholarship. In her PhD research, she focuses on quantifying measures to assess the resilience of City of Toronto’s critical infrastructure systems, in order to mitigate their interdependence-induced cascading risks under climate change induced hazards. Her research interests include Data-Driven Optimization, Network Modelling, Agent Based Modelling and Data Analytics.
