Dr. Tracy Becker has expertise in the design, modeling, and experimental testing of passive and semiactive control systems for limiting structural and non-structural system and component losses in seismic events using a performance-based-design approach.

Following her training at the University of California, Berkeley and Kyoto University, Japan, Dr. Becker’s research at McMaster University has focused on understanding ultimate failure mechanisms of isolated structures to ensure robust designs, and improving existing control systems to further mitigate damage under seismic events. She uses her strong international industry ties to enhance her research and bring new experiences to her trainees.
